Lagoon’s Edge will provide vacation and long-term rentals on the Placencia Peninsula in Belize, Central America.

History

Mr. Santilli and Mr. Galvez have worked together on multiple construction projects since 2009. In 2012 Mr. Santilli and Mr. Galvez discussed going into business together if the right piece of property could be found for a multi-unit development. In November of 2016, Mr. Galvez identified an ideal piece of property on the Placencia peninsula and contacted Mr. Santilli.

The Property

Mr. Santilli purchased the land in December of 2016. The parcel consists of 1.35 acres situated between the road and the lagoon just north of CocoPlum resort and immediately south of Swann Villas. The view to the west overlooks the lagoon and the Maya Mountains. The beach is 200′ to the east with public access just north of the property.

The Plan

Construction is currently underway on four 3-bedroom houses and a utility garage with a manager’s unit above. These units are scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2018. Upon completion, the houses will be rented.

Project Rationale

 

Overnight tourism in Belize is trending according to the Belize Tourism Board over the last few years and the rental market has not kept up with demand or with the type of tourist traveling to Belize. Tourists reaching Belize’s shores are more affluent than they have been in the past and are seeking out more amenities than a wooden cabin on the beach. Most are demanding AC, wifi, TV, etc. and they are more than willing to pay for these items.
